ERI Field Guide Now Available
The ERI has published a 650-page Field Guide to Forest and Mountain Plants of Northern Arizona - ideal for anyone who has an interest in the region’s rich diversity of plants. The book is now available for $30 at the NAU Bookstore or from the bookstore’s online site.
Beetle Mania
As bark beetle go with the phloem, or living tissue beneath the bark as they build their tunnels of death inside pine trees, NAU School of Forestry Entomology Professor Dr. Richard Hofstetter creates phloem sandwiches using Plexiglas and slices of infested trees to observe the beetles as researchers blasted them with sound.

Funding to Reduce Hazardous Fuels
On May 5, 2009 Vilsack announced that funding will be made available for 110 hazardous fuels reduction and ecosystem improvement projects funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). The projects are located on forested lands in over 26 states and territories.
