  • 2002: Edited and contributed to A Guide to the Arboretum Prairies for University of Wisconsin-Madison Arboretum.
  • 1995: Edited several chapters on collecting, processing, and propagating prairie seeds for The Tallgrass Restoration Handbook for Prairies, Savannas, and Woodlands, which was published by Island Press in 1997.

Landscape Design/Ecological Restoration

  • 2003-2004: Designed landscape plan and wrote seeding and management specifications for Ohio Department of Transportation Maumee River Crossing Project, Toledo, Ohio.
  • 1998: Prepared and oversaw the implementation of the experimental planting of trees on a landfill at Johnson Creek, Wisconsin; in co-operation with Bruce Woods of Foth & Van Dyke.
  • 1997: Planned and implemented a savanna planting for Full Compass Systems in Middleton, Wisconsin.
  • 1996-2001: Consultation and management of private lands in Town of Dekorra, Wisconsin.
  • 1995: Organized and implemented a prairie planting at Stricker Pond Conservancy. Done in conjunction with the City of Middleton Park Department and a neighborhood association.
  • 1994-95: Planned and implemented natural landscape plans and implementation for Sacco Foods, Full Compass Systems, and City of Middleton in Middleton, Wisconsin.
  • 1994: Developed specifications for rights-of-way management plan, Interstate 90/94 between Mauston and Lyndon Station in Juneau County, Wisconsin.
  • 1993: Organized and implemented a savanna planting at Elm Lawn Elementary School, Middleton, Wisconsin.
  • 1992: Organized and implemented a prairie planting at Stonefield Meadows, City of Middleton, Wisconsin.
  • 1992: Developed a revegetation plan for Central Storage Warehouse, Madison, Wisconsin.
  • 1990-2000: Trained burn crew and maintained prairies in City of Middleton with prescribed burning.
  • 1987-1988: Developed a native plant roadside planting plan for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation in Waushara and Marquette counties along Highway 51; with UW-Madison Professor John Harrington.

Botanical Surveys

  • 1997: Floral inventory of remnant sand and dry lime prairies and oak savannas/woodlands on the Zoller property near Poynette, Wisconsin.
  • 1994: Floral inventory of remnant dry lime prairie at Frederick’s Farm property in Middleton, Wisconsin. Species list sent to Dane County Parks Department in May 1995 along with management recommendations.
  • 1993: Planned and implemented a floral and faunal inventory/report of the 1,000-acre Thunder Mountain Ranch near Crivitz, Wisconsin. Worked as a private consultant with Eco-Systems Design of Madison.
  • 1989: Assessed site conditions, vegetation, land use, and riparian areas of the 250-acre Hearst Experimental Farm in Vernon County, Wisconsin. Provided written and oral recommendations for management.
